Filling up the tooth pits

The permanent teeth are protected with filling up tooth pits. Deep pits are difficult to wash, but with closing the pits we can prevent the decay! Furthermore before that we sterilize the teeth with ozone, so the protection enamel is applied on bacteria free teeth.

Most of us got the first tooth filling into the back grinders. Why? Although the cleaning was intense and extensive? Is it a fairy tail what dentists are telling about tooth cleaning?

No! The pits of the new grinders are very deep. Food might remain in the pits, fur can develop which is a good base for the bacteria which are generating acid extracting the minerals of the teeth. So these ugly "teeth elves" start demolishing the minerals of the teeth. The teeth start to decay. If we do not act in time, the decay will be deeper and deeper and the damaged parts can be removed and prepared the teeth for filling with pain; in worse cases removal or root treatment is needed.

All of these can be prevented with filling up the pits! A protecting enamel is applied which prevents the fur generation on the bottom of the pits.

How is it made? The dentist cleans the tooth thoroughly.

This cleaning is started with a 1- minute ozone treatment, so the pits are filled up free from any bacteria.

After this the tooth is "isolated" which means we protect it with the help of a cotton and salvia extractor from being covered with salvia again. Neither the filling nor the pit filling enamel would stay in the tooth. I know, children do not like this noisy equipment, but the whole procedure is very short! How many bad dental experience can be prevented with this protection, we do not have to drill and fill!

If the tooth is dried, a blue gel is applied on it: this bites the tooth surface, this way the enamel as well as the filling can stuck to the tooth properly. It does not cause any damage. The gel is kept on the tooth for 20 seconds and then it is washed properly. Salvia extractor is not touched, the water is extracted through a stronger extractor by the assistant. It is dried again with air - and depending on the material - we bond it then light it for 40 seconds. Then the final phase comes, when the enamel is applied into the pits, we light and it is ready!

This enamel erodes therefore it shall be repeated in 1- 1.5 years.
