Dental symptoms of the childhood infectious diseases:

1. in case of scarlet-fever the change on the tongue is very significant: edges and tip of the tongue are red but there is a white fur in the middle with red spots.

2. rubeola: white spots can be found in the mouth on the cheek.

3. chicken pox: small spots - as on the body - appear then these change into vesicle; later these burst releasing water- like liquid.

4. mumps (epidemic parotitis):both parotid glands get swollen and they are painful. Swallowing and chewing is difficult.

5. Inflammation caused by the herpes virus is very common. 99 % of the young are infected by the so called gingivostomatitis herpetica, but it causes inflammation only vey rarely. This illness is followed by high fever.

6. returning herpes: it can cause problems at any age; majority of the people is a vector. It can be brought forth by other illnesses, nervousness or dental treatment.

7.  herpangina is an illness with is followed by high fever; it develops in the throat; its symptoms are similar to the herpes.

8.  mononucleosis infectiosa is an illness caused by a virus; symptoms are inflamed throat and palate as well as with swollen ganglions.

Fungal infections

Prunella is a common illness at the infants. It can be cured easily with disinfectants. It indicates other, more serious illnesses at children.
